Cancer Survivor, Fibromyalgia
Last week I worked a bit with a client who has had some serious health challenges over the years, including: Cancer, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia and many other minor issues as well.
Their feet were extremely sensitive, feeling intense pain at even the slightest bit of pressure. I had to do a very light Vita-Flex technique, without any inward pressure on the foot. Although this is common among those with severe health compromise, this was the most intense I have ever experienced. This has a lot to do with the chemotherapy, although many factors contribute.
Over the months it has been very difficult to get through a complete session with this client, this first of these being only within the last week. We worked for 3 days in a row this week, as scheduling is difficult, and by the third day the pain was gone and I was able to finish a complete reflexology session with light-to-normal pressure.
Although I strongly favour an intense session, it is often better - and necessay - to work much lighter, removing the pain from the experience and helping the client to relax to allow for future progress.
