Ear Reflexology

If you think reflexology was only limited to the hand and foot, think again. Ear reflexology, traced back to Chinese and Egyptian medical work of about 3000 to 4000 years ago, is a diagnostic and healing treatment that stimulates points on the ear that correspond to different parts of the body.

Ear Reflexology can benefit you in many ways, but the most notable is for the instant relief of pain. It can also be used for clearing infections, lowering blood pressure and balancing hormones. In traditional Chinese medicine the ears are associated with the kidneys, which reflex our constitutional strength. The ears they are the same size and shape as the kidneys.

What Is Reflexology?

Believed to have come from ancient Egypt, it is a technique of applying gentle pressure on reflex areas on the hands and feet to bring deep relaxation and at the same time, stimulating the body's own healing process.

The theory is that the organs, the nerves, the glands and everything else is connected to reflex points on the hands and feet. By stimulating these areas through massage with your thumbs, fingers and hands, you can create a direst response in a related body part or area. It is said that your head is connected to the big toe, so when you have a headache for example, massaging your big toe should help ease the headache. The feet are usually more preferred over the hands since they have a bigger area to work with and seem more responsive.

Point to remember though is that, reflexology is not a therapy used to diagnose illness nor is it a medical treatment or a miracle cure. It just facilitates healing within the body.

Spa Treatments Help Fight Diseases

A trip to the local spa can be a relaxing experience. Being pampered and all. Well, new research shows that a relaxing experience is not all that you can benefit from a spa treatment. Spa treatments can now also help fight some diseases. Talk about getting your money's worth.

Spas are now offering services that targets specific medical problems. An example is a type of facial that is said to remove toxins from the lymph nodes.

One grandmother said she skips antacids when her tummy hurts and instead opts for reflexology foot massage which is said to help ease digestive problems.

Reflexology works similar to ancient acupressure, there's new evidence that pressure-point massage works although you should be careful with therapies that promise a quick fix.

This is a wonderful alternative to try out that can not only help cure some of our ailments but also give us a relaxing feel.
