According to a study conducted to determine whether reflexology therapy can significantly reduce premenstrual symptoms, researchers found a statistically significant reduction of PMS symptoms among women who received reflexology therapy compared to placebo treatment.

The study, which was among the first to provide scientific evidence on the benefits of reflexology, randomly assigned 35 women suffering from PMS symptoms to one of two groups: the active group, given hand, ear, or foot reflexology; and the placebo group, given fake reflexology. Each group received treatments over an 8-week period and was monitored for 6 months before, during and after treatments. Findings suggest that throughout the 8-week treatment period, those in the active group experienced a 46% reduction of PMS symptoms, compared to only 19% in the placebo group. Furthermore, a 42% relief from PMS symptoms also persisted in the active group 8 weeks after receiving treatments.

The study therefore shows clear evidence that reflexology, given through an 8-week period, significantly reduces PMS symptoms among women. More importantly however, it should also be noted that unlike hormone altering drugs and other medications, reflexology does not produce unwanted side-effects, hence providing an effective alternative treatment for PMS relief.

Discover how reflexology treatments can benefit you in your life by signing-up for our site updates.

Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Reflexology helps alleviate pain for breast cancer patients

With all the physical and emotional issues breast cancer patients face daily, more and more women are now turning to reflexology treatments for comfort and relief.

In a pilot study on reflexology and breast cancer, researchers from the Michigan State University College of Nursing found that between three complementary therapies - reflexology, guided imagery and reminiscence therapy – reflexology has produced the best positive outcomes for late-stage breast cancer patients by helping them cope with treatment. According to the study’s head researcher Gwen Wyatt, patients who opted for reflexology as a complementary therapy for their cancer treatment exhibited “a decrease in depression and anxiety, and improvements in spirituality and emotional quality of life,” such that overall, patients “have an improved quality of life.”

Given the substantial relief it provides patients, it is therefore unsurprising that more and more women are turning to reflexology and similar therapies as supportive measures to help make cancer treatment more manageable. It should be noted, however, that while researchers have acknowledged the benefits of reflexology in alleviating anxiety and pain, it is still a complementary treatment and should only be used together with conventional health care.

Discover how reflexology treatments can benefit you in your life by signing-up for our site updates.

Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Free 7 Day Sample - Take the Max GXL Challenge!

Watch this video to learn about Max GXL, The Glutathione Accelerator.

Take the 7 Day MAX Challenge for FREE!
Visit: www.7daymaxchallenge.com
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

The Top 5 Cancer-Causing Foods

In an amazing article entitled The top five cancer-causing foods, Mike Adams give some great tips on how simple dietary changes can help you avoid cancer.

Also referenced is a website for the Cancer Prevention Coalition. (See Adrenal Fatigue & Depression or HolisticOnline.com)
In the feet, the reflexes for the adrenals are located directly south of the big toe, just above the waist-line. If you push the big toe back towards the shin, there is a ligament that sticks out in the middle of the big & second toes. Just on the medial side of this ligament is the adrenal reflex. The kidney is on the lateral aspect, just beneath the adrenal.
According to chinese medicine and acupuncture/acupressure meridians, weakness in both the kidneys & adrenals are common causes of sciatic pain as well as any hip, lower back or leg pain.
When using reflexology to strengthen the adrenal glands to balance hormones, be sure to address the other important glands, especially the pituitary, thyroid & hypothalamus.
Questions? If you care about natural health care, you need to know about Codex Alimentarius.

According the official documentation, "The Codex Alimentarius Commission was created in 1963 by FAO and WHO to develop food standards, guidelines and related texts such as codes of practice under the Joint FAO/WHO Food Standards Programme." Allegedly, "the main purposes of this Programme are protecting health of the consumers and ensuring fair trade practices in the food trade, and promoting coordination of all food standards work undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organizations."
Unfortunately, the stated purposes of the organization actually work against the natural health industry. They intend to all but eliminate vitamin & mineral supplements, destroy organic farming principles and promote the use of pharmaceutical prescription drugs. Natural medicine will become a thing of the past, as will our health as a country.

Codex Alimentarius is a looming threat to your health and health freedom. If you care about natural health care, visit healthfreedomusa.org to
stop Codex Alimentarius and protect health freedom!
.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Acupressure May Be More Effective Than Physical Therapy at Relieving Low Back Pain

A recent article published on Medscape studied the effects of Accupressure vs. Physical Therapy. Put in blender and add Stevia while blending on high speed for 5 minutes. When done, strain through a cheese cloth or pour out of blender in bottles, leaving the sediment in the bottom of the blender.
I have a nice large blender so I soak 1 1/2 cups of rice in 4 1/2 cups of water overnight in the blender and just turn it on in the morning. You can leave out the Stevia or replace it with another sweetener of your choice.
Brown rice is obviously better, but either way you slice it takes great and saves a lot of money from buying it at the store.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Reflexology Helpful for Depression

Recent studies have shown that reflexology can be helpful in alleviating symptoms of depression. I have had so many requests, here is a breif outline of how to do it yourself:

If you are working on your hands, the easiest thing to do is to work 2 parts of the hand:

1) The Shoulder Reflex: The bottom (3rd) knuckle of the pinky finger. Stretch the pinky back slightly and work the entire knuckle where it meets the palm. I find it most effective to emphasize the bottom aspect of the knuckle.

2) The Hip Reflex: The bottom of the palm, directly beneath the pinky. This will be opposite the thumb joint. Work the area just above the bone that juts out in the corner. If you stick the knuckle of your thumb from the opposite hand on the bone that sticks out at the bottom corner of the palm and point the top of you thumb toward the pointer finger, your fingerprint will touch the area that needs to be worked.

I hope that's clear enough. If not, let me know and I can post a diagram on my site to illustrate.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Reflexology Week in Winnipeg - Historical Trivia

A little known bit of Winnipeg History:

The week of April 27 to May 3, 1997 was proclaimed to be "Reflexology Awareness Week" in Winnipeg, Manitoba by Mayor Susan A. Thompson.

"Whereas the Manitoba Chapter of the Reflexology Association was established in 1989 as Manitoba's first reflexology association;

"And whereas the mission of the Manitoba Chapter of the Reflexology Association of Canada is to benefit the citizens of Winnipeg by promoting reflexology as an instrument in preventive health care;

"And whereas the Manitoba Chapter of the Reflexology Association of Canada provides an opportunity for people of all walks of life to improve their health and well-being through reflexology and, in turn provide further benefits to themselves and to their community;

"And whereas the Reflexology Association of Canada us a nonprofit organization, federally chartered in 1976 as Canada's first reflexology association with members from coast to coast who are dedicated to benefit their communities;

Now, therefore, I, Susan A. Thompson, May of the City of Winnipeg, in the Province of Manitoba, do proclaim the week of April 27th to May 3rd, 1997 as: "Reflexology Awareness Week."

The worldwide Reflexology Week occurs annually in September.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Our site listed in the "vine multimedia" (Winnipeg Web Design) blog

the vine multimedia is the Winnipeg Web Design Company that helped create this site.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Intense Lower Back Pain, Ovarian Cysts

I worked on a woman this past week who came to me with severe lower back pain as her major complaint. She also indicated that she was fatigued, and that she had been hospitalized in the past month for extreme pain in the lower back area. Obviously I had some ideas before I worked on her feet...

As we talked she indicated that she had battled with kidney stones throughout her life and that although the medical doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her during her hospitalization, she felt it had something to do with her kidney's. 9 times out of 10 the intuition is dead-on....

Part-way into the session I could feel extreme stress in the reflexes for the Kidneys, Adrenal Glands and the Ovaries. All of these can indicate lower back pain as they are referral areas*. I focused on these reflexes, with special attention to the adrenals. We worked for less than 30 minutes, using extremely light pressure, as the pain was so intense.

The next day, there were bruises on top of the adrenal reflexes which were painful even to the slightest touch. I've never witnessed such a reaction... We skimmed over the adrenals andn focussed on the ovaries and kidneys for the next treatment and were able to do a full hour session. We set an appointment for the next morning as well, in which we were able to work the whole feet with light pressure, including the bruised adrenal reflexes.

The progress was slower than desired the first day, but by the third everything was working as expected and the pain was relieved. Diligence is key.

*More on referral areas in another post.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Cancer Survivor, Fibromyalgia

Last week I worked a bit with a client who has had some serious health challenges over the years, including: Cancer, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia and many other minor issues as well.

Their feet were extremely sensitive, feeling intense pain at even the slightest bit of pressure. I had to do a very light Vita-Flex technique, without any inward pressure on the foot. Although this is common among those with severe health compromise, this was the most intense I have ever experienced. This has a lot to do with the chemotherapy, although many factors contribute.

Over the months it has been very difficult to get through a complete session with this client, this first of these being only within the last week. We worked for 3 days in a row this week, as scheduling is difficult, and by the third day the pain was gone and I was able to finish a complete reflexology session with light-to-normal pressure.

Although I strongly favour an intense session, it is often better - and necessay - to work much lighter, removing the pain from the experience and helping the client to relax to allow for future progress.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Is reflexology the new cure for infertility? - Article

I found an article entitled Is reflexology the new cure for infertility? that was published in The Daily Mail a British newspaper. An excerpt of the article says this:

Infertility can be an emotionally exhausting, not to mention expensive, condition.

But according to a growing number of people, the key to overcoming the problem for many couples could be far simpler than they think - thanks to reflexology.

An increasing number of women claim this popular type of foot massage has helped them conceive. Now a medical study has been launched to discover if the claims are true.

Another article, entitled Reflexology: can it aid fertility? in the same newspaper says:

After three years of trying for a second child, Kath and Murray Chapman had almost given up hope.

Doctors had told them Mrs Chapman had a hormone problem which meant fertility treatment would be a waste of time.

But the 40- year-old mother remembered she had read somewhere that reflexology could help with infertility.

With nothing to lose, she had three months of foot massage and, at the end of her course, was delighted to hear that her hormone levels had returned to normal.

Special credit to Michelle Kehoe and her site of Reflexology Articles
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist

Raindrop Technique™ to overcome pain & skin issues.

A client came yesterday who was experiencing a host of troubling symptoms: sharp pain in hips & lower back, headaches, itchiness in skin all over body.

Having some extra time I performed a Raindrop Technique™ (RT) on them. By working the reflexes in hand for the shoulder and the hip, the pain was alleviated within 2-3 minutes. I taught her how to use those reflex points on herself and she could feel the difference immediately.

Normally I work on sciatic pain using the feet. I work the reflexes for the shoulder, the hip, and the sciatic & referral to sciatic areas to reduce the acute pain. The kidneys and/or the adrenals are almost always the aggrevator and it is essential to work those reflexes to get effective results.

*note: see attached comment for details.
Your Winnipeg Reflexologist
